BarePaw Naturals began in Mangawhai, inspired by a simple belief that dogs deserve the same gentle care we give ourselves.
At the time I had a small team of working dogs, and one of them suffered from severe allergies to ordinary soap products. With the nearest vet 45 minutes away, I started creating my own gentle shampoo bars using natural, skin-safe ingredients.
Word soon spread through the community. Neighbours began asking for bars for their own dogs, and before long I was making them for several families. When I later moved from Mangawhai, those same customers continued to order by mail in the days when online shopping was rare and most business was carried out by phone and post.

This is the first major update to our site since 2000 when the internet was going to shut down, so please contact us if there is something missing.

The name BarePaw reflects the essence of what we do being simple, natural, and close to nature.
“Bare” represents our use of pure ingredients without unnecessary additives and was the name of a friend's dog, while “Paw” reminds us who we create for: the dogs who bring joy and companionship into our lives. Together, they express our promise of natural care, handmade in harmony with the environment.

Every BarePaw product is made by hand in small batches. This keeps every bar, balm, and toy consistent in quality and allows us to avoid mass-production waste. Making our products by hand means we can control each ingredient, check every batch personally, and ensure your dog receives only the best natural care.
